Deborah DeSimone
Secretary

Deborah DeSimone has been a member of the AMC alto section since 2018 and currently serves as the Chorale’s Secretary.

A classically trained singer, Deborah has performed with multiple musical groups as a professional chorister and soloist, including the Arizona Masterworks Chorale, Scottsdale Choral Artists, the Arizona Cantilena Chorale, MusicaNova Orchestra, and the Canterbury Transfer Madrigal Quartet at the Arizona Renaissance Festival.  She’s currently in the vocal studio of Daniel Kurek and has studied with esteemed Phoenix-area opera stars Jennifer Nagy and Jeffrey Stevens, among others.

Deborah is a native of New Jersey who has called the Phoenix area home since the 1980s.  She earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Materials Engineering from Cornell University.  Her professional career includes positions as a professor at North Carolina State University; technical writer, application engineer, and senior technology manager with Motorola Semiconductor Products; executive roles with the Apollo Group; and Education Director at the Challenger Space Flight Center.  She’s created innovative, effective, and common-sense approaches to business wherever she’s worked, with awards including the #1 Best Practice in Software Engineering management at Motorola’s 2000 Software Engineering Symposium.

Also a classically trained dancer with several corps de ballet performances to her credit, she’s now active in Zumba®, the world-wide workout phenomenon that started the dance-fitness revolution.  She holds a Zumba® instructor license, as well as certifications from the Athletic Fitness Association of America and other fitness-oriented organizations.
