Introduction

The Arizona Masterworks Chorale’s greatest impact is storytelling through choral music that connects to the communities we live in.   We are an equal opportunity Corporation; we will act to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion in all we do; and we seek the broadest possible representation from our community.

Definitions

  • Diversity recognizes and acknowledges all the ways people differ.  A diverse organization is one in which a variety of social and cultural characteristics exist.
  • Equality is a system in which each individual is offered the same opportunities regardless of circumstance.
  • Equity is the guarantee of fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement while at the same time striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of historically underserved and underrepresented populations.  Fairness regarding these unbalanced conditions is needed to assist equality in the provision of effective opportunities to all groups. 
  • Inclusion puts diversity and equity into practice. It’s the act of welcoming, supporting, respecting, and valuing all individuals and groups.
  • Representation demonstrates the effectiveness of an organization’s approach to inclusion and its success in reflecting all elements of the community in which it lives.

Policy

The Arizona Masterworks Chorale, Inc. shall not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity (race), religion or creed, gender, gender identity or expression, age, ancestry or national origin, disability, language, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.  These include, but are not limited to, service as a Chorister, Officer, Director, or volunteer; engagement as contractors, vendors, artistic partners, and collaborators; and provision of services.

We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone with whom we interact, and will act to ensure diversity, equality, equity, and inclusion in all we do and achieve broad representation from our community in the Chorale.

This Policy is approved and adopted by the Board of Directors on June 5, 2021.
